Hacking Villa Project 2025

After long years of reduced activity, the Hacking Villa is reopening its doors in 2025. Located inside an amazing picturesque setting nearby the waterfall, this year we open up the villa to form a community of creative minds.

Rooms

We are currently preparing an inspiring mixture of dedicated rooms and shared space. Available by summer 2025 will be 8 magnificient rooms:

  • Hacking Villa Big Room 1 with landmark ceilings, orientated to the South West and mountain view (est. 560 CHF/month + deposit)
  • Big Room 2 with landmark ceilings, orientated to the South East and waterfall view (est. 570 CHF/month + deposit)
  • Regular Room 3 with orientated to the East with waterfall view (est. 490 CHF/month + deposit)
  • Big Room 4 orientated to the North East and waterfall view (est. 550 CHF/month + deposit)
  • Regular Room 5 orientated to the North (est. 490 CHF/month + deposit)
  • Big Room 6 orientated to the North with private bath room (est. 580 CHF/month + deposit)
  • Big Room 7 orientated to the South West and mountain view (est. 550 CHF/month + deposit)
  • Big Room 8 orientated to the South East and waterfall view (est. 550 CHF/month + deposit)

All rooms are furnish with one (regular room) or two beds (big rooms) - tables, chairs, etc. can be provided by the Hacking Villa team.

Shared areas

Additionally to the exclusive dedicated rooms is plenty of shared area:

  • The creative area in the 2nd floor with plenty of space
  • The cafe on the first floor
  • The kitchen for preparing tasty meals

Aside from being, living, working and creating in an amazing environment, there is also the possibility to register yourself as officially as living in Switzerland - with a real Swiss address (*).

And more!

So far we mainly talked about the Hacking Villa itself, however this is so much more around it. Let's start with the practical things of life:

  • The next supermarket is reachable by foot on a nice mountain way (2km distance, ca. 20 minutes)
  • The train station Diesbach-Betschwanden with a direct train to Zurich!
  • Many parking spaces (10+)
  • 2 public EV chargers (+1 private charger)

And even more!

But that's not all, no, there is more...

  • Obvisouly the pretty water fall (about 5 minutes walk)
  • A self service bar provided by Circus Mugg
  • Many many hiking paths
  • Restaurants in Hätzingen, Rüti and Linthal (the nearby villages)
  • More shopping in the capital - if you really want and need to

Joining the Hacking Villa

If you want to join the Hacking Villa, either select the room on stripe directly or reserve it via email and use wire transfer afterwards.

To get a dedicated room you will need to:

  • provide the monthly payment
  • provide the deposit payment

As soon as both are received, you are entitled to get a dedicated room key and access to all shared areas of the Hacking Villa - welcome in the one of the prettiest parts of Switzerland.

A Hacking Villa?

We are located in the heart of the pretty mountain valley Glarus and we love our surrounding and the way of living here. We want to share this spirit with you and this is why we opened up this villa to the public. The hacking villa is part of the Digital Glarus project.

What is there?

The Hacking Villa has 13 rooms in total with 9 rooms open for staying. It is located next to a pretty waterfall, a cross-country skiing area, some horses and a lot of cows.

And more importantly: high speed Internet is available just in the middle of the mountains.

What to do in the Hacking Villa?

We are here to enjoy our life while we work the way we like to work. However, you are free to do what you like - for instance:

  • have an offsite with your team
  • do a focused brainstorming
  • enjoy the fast Internet
  • have a walk in the valley
  • learn in professional courses
  • hike up in the nearby mountains
  • learn horse riding
  • cook together
  • go for a swim or sauna nearby in Braunwald
  • work concentrated

How to get there?

Just take the train or plane to Zurich and from there it is a direct train to the nearby station. Checkout the SBB page for the next train.
